Bad idea. We would have no way of knowing what bias may be lurking inside, built in by its creators.

I recently travelled with my brothers to an unfamiliar location and we navigated there using our nearest thing to AI, Google Maps GPS and its "pushy"female voice. My brother labelled it as being pushy for reasons like it was so sure it was right, always! The barricaded road was the one we had to take, according to AI, and we were renavigated to that barricade over and over. AI has no common sense, is infallible in the face of failure, and will not change course when confronted with its obvious failure. Sort of like the GOP...
Searches the internet based on "facts" and "parameters" given? That is the intrinsic issue. Science, religion, politics etc. share different positions based on facts..a paradox. However, this could eliminate opinions that have no merit. Interesting idea.

So, you've taught a machine to gaslight its opponent in a debate? Good job, IBM... This video showed zero evidence of the ai actually working, while managing to show that it fails at the task of delivering information that would help the debate.
Thats called needling.

A collection of IBM Selectric typeballs - including a variety of typefaces, symbols and even specialty versions intended for specific languages. Riley Cran

What do they do?
This is a brilliant idea, David. Now, the main problem would be to find the patissier able to make these.

And the correcting ribbon cartridge for the IBM selectric was a 1299095. The things you remember from having such a wonderful career at IBM! SSD- Systems Supplies Division

Well of course we are losing plankton - they can't like in the giant plastic islands that are being formed.

Yes, they're in decline. Except where they're increasing.
That just means we need to do more fishing.

Those cute little wigglers in the micrographs are oxygen USERS. It is the non motile plants of plankton and others that photosynthesize and free up bound oxygen.....on another thought, many whales are filter feeders....they eat plankton...hmmmm....the backward and forward swimmers are of interest, however.
Exactly. I was just confirming Dan's statement.

IBM's 2017 Annual Report is now available. Read the Chairman's Letter here: http://bitly.com/2GayBWF

How often does IBM release these reports?
I get that it covers the annuals, but how often do they issue it is my question?

The networking cables at this IBM Cloud data center are a thing of beauty. Our cloud network continues to grow: we've just announced 18 new availability centers globally. http://bitly.com/2tGncIv
I hope those cable bundles are supported. Over time the weight will cause the copper to stretch and thin. This will affect throughput.

Have a datacenter in Vietnam? Send me there, I am fluent in Vietnamese/English, no translator needed
No, but Softlayer has DCs in Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

There is no growth in the comfort zone and no comfort in the growth zone.
I suggest making that an independent posting on FB.
Oh man, making mistakes all the time, loving what I do, not proud of them, at all, but I will learn. I love your comment
Adversity is the breading ground for excellence!
The trying of your faith works patients so you will be stronger in the next trial. This is how God says it works for the believer. The stuff you described is all man can do and is unproductive.

IBM to acquire Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source technology, becoming the #1 hybrid cloud provider. https://ibm.co/2Rkcr8T #IBMCloud

Your Destiny likes this.
As I see it, this is a movement that started in 2008 with oracle buying Mysql AB. When big businesses undestand they can not compete, they tend to buy things M$ > GitHub, IBM > RH. Luckly we can still enjoy Debian and CentOS.
Formally, CentOS uses RH source code but it is an independent distro.
thought of you when I saw this. Does this mean you’re technically going back to IBM?
I'm so sorry to hear that IBM's culture was so unwelcoming to you. Perhaps it will help you to know that both CEOs have committed to retaining and preserving Red Hat's culture and priorities, as key ingredients of Red Hat's success.

Every year, the Red Cross sees dangerously low levels of blood. In support of this year's campaign, IBM will host blood drives at IBM locations across the U.S. Schedule a donation at RedCrossBlood.org. https://ibm.co/2xZpUhP #MissingType
Maybe the CEO from Red Cross should give up some of his money to pay the hospitals when you need blood that they get for free.
Nonprofit organization that is a joke so is NFL and the NBA both nonprofit organizations
I give them my blood and then they charge the patient an outrageous amount for my free blood. I understand there is overhead but what about donations? I also know they turn away some donations of goods and say the want money instead. It's a sad world we live in, it's all about the $$
Do they charge or do the hospitals?

Could a machine debate a human being? 6 years ago we embarked on a mission to find out. Today, we're sharing the first glimpse of #ProjectDebater. https://ibm.co/2lgjL7w
Mary, Natalia and Julia Messer like this.
This would be a great tool to use during governmental debates. Rather than a human moderator, ai could be used to do real time fact checking, give alternative points of view, and bring up potentially interesting follow up questions. Exciting times, keep up the great work on this project.
Or people could just learn what debating is suppose to be. Idk what was going on last election by both sides but it wasn’t a debate.
Wow! Such fear unleashed! Of course there is potential for harm, but enormous potential for offering humankind more and better options, clarifying issues, objectivity and application of more information and vastly stronger calculating power than we currently tap.
Yeah..... sure......
